The band picked up a strong following on the live circuit and in 1983 signed a recording contract with the American labelEMI/Capitol - one of the first Australian bands signed direct to an overseas label. They recorded their debut album Ransom Note in the United States under the guidance of producer Peter McIan (Men at Work, Mondo Rock) recording sessions. The impressive album generated three quality singles, the first of which "Computer One" proved to be a major hit, peaking at #5 on the Australian charts in late 1983. continued with the third single "Kids On The Street”. Ron has worked with Talking Heads, Pretenders, Joe Jackson, Al Kooper, Rickie Lee Jones and Richie Hayward (Little Feat) I also played with Max Merritt and Brian Cadd as guitarist and backing vocals..

Since the eighties Ron has performed in many Australian music projects including “The Concert for Max” (Max Merrit) .Ron continues to perform around the country in the Absolutely 80’s band. Featuring Brian Mannix, Scot Carne & Paul Norton. Backed by ex members of Boom Crash Opera, Big Pig & The Black Sorrows. Ron has recently joined forces with Melbourneduo Rod Summers & Steve Ainsworth and have impressed audiences with their versatility and sound.
